Tom Wilson is a British film director and writer. He was born in Lancashire and studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at Oxford University. He lived in Bucharest for more than a decade, led by his fascination with the country, and speaks fluent Romanian.
His recent feature “Matthew Mark Luke John” was nominated for Best Performance at London’s Raindance Film Festival 2019 and won Best Indie Feature and Best Actress at the Los Angeles Film Awards. His debut feature film “The Bucuresti Experiment” won Romania’s National Film Award for Best Documentary. “Quixote’s Last Film”, his third feature, is being funded by the Romanian Film Centre and produced by Corneliu Porumboiu’s Cannes and Berlinale-winning production company. “Quixote” participated in the Venice Biennale College Cinema and Torino Film Lab.
Tom has directed for clients including Netflix, Samsung, Vodafone, Orange and Red Bull, and shot documentary films for the BBC. As a writer he’s contributed to titles including Time Magazine, Dazed & Confused, The Times, The Guardian and The Economist. And the NME.
